Family matters...oder Neues vom Bären-Einwohnermeldeamt...

Wer die K-Files regelmäßig liest weiß, dass wir seit dem 1. April auch die Leitung des ersten Einwohnermeldeamtes für Bären inne haben. Sehr häufig sind wir mit Todesfällen betraut, heute jedoch bekamen wir Post von einer kleinen Eisbärin, die ihrer Meldepflicht nachkommen möchte.-

Who is a regular visitor of the K-Files, might know that since April1 the outpost has been in charge of the first official Civil Registry Office for Bears. Our record section comprises everything from birth to death certificates, in case of bear relocations a zoo has to apply first, making sure that certain standards of the new home are respected, name changes and family lines have to be fully disclosed. Too many bears got lost in the past....Since the start of our office, we have more often been in charge of submitting death certificates but today we got a letter of a young Italian bear who is eager to finalise registration procedures.Ich bin Dea, Sie erinnern sich vielleicht, die kleine Italienerin aus Fasano, am 2.Dezember ist mein erster Geburtstag.-

I am Dea, maybe you remember me, I am the little Italian bear girl and my first birthday is on December 2.
Ich bin schon ganz schön groß geworden...-
Since I have gone public I have really grown, haven't I?
Hier bin ich mit meiner Mami Marissa, sie ist geboren am 25 Dezember 1993 in Kolmarden, das ist in Schweden, aber sie lebt schon mehr als 13 Jahre hier in Fasano. Übrigens, sie wartet noch immer auf ihre italienische Einbürgerung und ihren Reisepass...-

Here you see me with my mom Marissa, she was born Dec 25 in 1993 in Kolmarden, that's in Sweden, but she has been living here in Fasano already for more than 13 years. By the way, she is still waiting for her Italian citizenship and her passport...
Und ja, es gibt da auch noch Felix, mein Papa-geboren 16.12.1994, ein echter Bärliner aus dem Tierpark Friedrichsfelde-, und ich wohne mit beiden zusammen auf einem Gelände, das wollte ich bloß mal ganz schnell sagen, damit auch alles richtig registriert wird im Einwohnermeldeamt. Und ja, ich bin die kleine Schwester von Gianna, die jetzt bei Knut ist.-

And yes, there is also my dad Felix, born Dec 12 in 1994 and a real Bearliner coming from Tierpark Friedrichsfelde, and I live together with both of them in one enclosure, this I just wanted to tell you to make sure that we all get registered correctly in the records of the Bears' Civil Registration Office. And before I forget, I am the little sister of Gianna who is now a room mate of Knut.Das war Mami mit Gianna, die damals noch Snowy hieß. Ihr Geburtstag ist am 28.November 2006, sie ist also ein paar Tage älter als Knut! Mami ist ein wenig ärgerlich, dass soviele Zeitungen das nicht richtig schreiben. Sie weiß ganz genau, dass Snowy, also Gianna, nicht am gleichen Tag wie Knut Geburtstag hat!-

Here you can see Mama with Gianna whose name was Snowy at that time. Her birthday is on Nov 28 2006, so she is in fact some days older than Knut! Mami is a bit upset that so many newspapers got it wrong!Hier sieht man sie von vorne. Sie war damals auch eine sehr Süße, nicht wahr?-
Here you can see her better. She was cute too, wasn't she? Und das ist Noel, meine ganz große Schwester, sie lebt in Kopenhagen zusammen mit einem Boris. Noel wird am 22.Dezember schon 6 Jahre. 2005 ist sie nach Kopenhagen gekommen.Sie steht gerne einfach nur in der Gegend rum...wenn sie nicht gerade... Aber das erzähle ich ein anderes Mal, hier sind wir ja im Einwohnermeldeamt...-

And this here is my big sister, she lives in Copenhagen together with a Boris. Noel will turn alreadz 6 this year on Dec 22. 2005 she came to Copenhagen. She really loves to show how big she is, there are lots of photos where you can see her just standing around...unless she is busy with ...No, this does not belong here now as it has nothing to do with the registration business...

Und hier sind die von Ihnen geforderten Belege, dass ich wirklich auch mit meinem Papi und meiner Mami zusammenwohne, ich verstehe gar nicht, was daran so besonders ist, das ist doch schon angekündigt gewesen, haben Sie das denn damals nicht registriert? -

And here the requested documents, so that you can see that I really live together with my Mom and my Dad although I do not know why this is of such utmost importance, hasn't that been registered yet, it had already been announced in March...







Anmerkung des Einwohnermeldeamts:
Nein, wir gestehen, wir haben diesen Zusamenhang damals unter den Tisch fallen lassen in der dt.Übersetzung, weil wir es nicht ernst genommen haben, es stand im letzten Satz des ital.Artikels:"In ein paar Monaten nach der Entwöhnung ist die Familie wieder vereint." Das Einwohnermeldeamt entschuldigt sich für den Lapsus! Und für alle, die sich fragen, was denn daran so besonders ist: Aus Sicherheitsgründen lebt normalerweise kein männlicher Eisbär mit seinem Nachwuchs im gleichen Gehege...Und eins ist sicher, Felix wird Geschichte machen als lebender Beweis, dass soziale Vaterschaft bei Eisbären doch möglich ist, er war auch bei seinen älteren Töchtern Noel und Gianna nach 4-5 Monaten Trennung immer mit von der Partie!-

Note: Dea is perfectly right, the fact that Felix was supposed to share the same enclosure had already been mentioned in an Italian article in March: " After the weaning in some months the family will be reunited." We just let it slip in the translation, as we took it for granted that male polar bears should under no circumstance be kept together with their offspring due to security reasons. So herewith we apologize! And knowing now that Felix shared as well the enclosure with his two older daughters, always after a seperation period of 4-5 months, he will surely make history as living proof of the exception of a rule that deemed social fatherhood in polar bears as impossible.
