Über dieses Foto bin ich vor ein paar Wochen gestoßen, als ich auf der Suche nach Aquila war, einem der Eisbären, die im Louisville Zoo geboren wurden. Als ich den Titel des Fotos las, wusste ich, das poste ich hier beim nächsten Vollmond, et voilà, seit heute nacht ist Vollmond...
This photo with the caption "Fullmoon" I found some weeks ago while looking for information on Aquila, one of the polar bears born at Louisville Zoo. It goes without saying that it had to be posted just during another fullmoon night, et voilà, here it is...
And that's Aquila's other side

Dieser hübsche Bär ist Aquila, ein reiseerfahrener Bär mit besonderer Geschichte. Geboren wurde er am 29.11.1992 in Louisville, und was viele nicht wissen, er stammt aus einem Drillingswurf der Mutter Skeena, Vater war Irsinak. Drillingsgeburten sind selten in Zoos. So selten, dass nach der Geburt der Rhenen-Drillinge Eva, Jelle und Henk im Januar 2006 mit Mutter Huggies, niemand wirklich nachforschte, ob vor ihnen auch schon andere geboren wurden.
1994 kam Aquila zusammen mit seinen Geschwistern Aurora und Arcturus in den North Carolina Zoo von Asheboro, wo sie die ersten Eisbären überhaupt waren, die dort gezeigt wurden. Die drei Geschwister wurden nach Sternen aus der nördlichen Hemisphäre benannt, und schnell wurden sie auch die Stars in Asheboro. Leider leben beide Geschwister nicht mehr, Aurora starb im Februar 1999, Arcturus im Oktober 2002. Ihr Tod hatte medizinische Ursachen, die aber nicht miteinander im Zusammnenhang standen.-
Aquila the eagle... Handsome Aquila is a bear not only with lots of travel experience but also with a rare background concerning his birth. He was born on 29 November 1992 in Louisville as one of 3 siblings, beside him his mother Skeena gave birth also to Arcturus, a little male, and Aurora, a little female cub. Father was Irsinak. Triplet births with surviving cubs are rare in the wild and even more rare in captivity. In fact so rare that everyone believed the Rhenen-triplets Ewa, Henk, and Jelle, born in January 2006 with mum Huggies, had been the only ones so far in a zoo.
1994 he came together with his siblings to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, which had never had polar bears before. The three siblings were named for stars in the Northern Hemisphere and became quickly stars of the zoo themselves soon. Unfortunately both siblings of Aquila are dead due to unrelated medical problems, Aurora died in February 1999 and Arcturus in October 2002

Im November 2002 zog Aquila wieder in den Louisville Zoo. Die Ankunft von Wilhelm und Masha machten den Umzug nötig. Die beiden Tiere gehörten zu sechs Eisbären, die 2002 in einem mexikanischen Wanderzirkus in Puerto Rico durch US Fish & Wildlife Service beschlagnahmt worden waren, da sie dort nicht tiergerecht gehalten wurden. Masha, trotz weiblich klingendem Namen, ein männchliches Tier, starb 2007 in Asheboro. Er wurde 23 Jahre alt. Wilhelm, uns auch bekannt als "Silly Willy", wurde 1985 im Zoo Kopenhagen geboren und kam, als er ein halbes Jahr alt war, in den Zirkus. Nach einem kurzen Aufenthalt im Cleveland Zoo im Jahr 2008 kehrte Aquila per LKW-Transport am 2. Februar 2009 in den NC Zoo zurück.- One month later Aquila moved back to Louisville. The arrival of Willy and Masha, two male bears, made it necessary. The two animals had belonged to the six polar bears, rescued in 2002 from a Mexican circus. When the circus had toured in Puerto Rico, conditions were dreadful, and the bears were confiscated by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. Masha died in Asheboro in 2007 at the age of 23. Willy was born in Copenhagen in 1985, entering the circus when he was only six months old. Aquila returned back to Asheboro via truck on February 2, 2009 after a short stay at Cleveland Zoo.

Aber da auch die Eisbärenanlage in Asheboro erneuert wird, musste Aquila noch einmal die Koffer packen. Im Mai diesen Jahres kam er vorübergehend zu Lee, Bärle und ihrer Tochter Talini nach Detroit. Und ich glaube, es geht ihm wirklich gut, er sieht nicht nur entspannt, sondern auch noch schöner aus...-
But as the enclosure in Asheboro will be renovated, Aquila has been once again transferred to another zoo. In May this year he has joined 11-year-old male Lee, 27-year-old female Bärle and her daughter, 7-year-old female Talini, in their spacious habitat in Detroit. And I am pretty sure that he will be fine there until his new habitat in Asheboro is fixed, on one of the first pics I found, he looked even more handsome...

Und bei dem Empfang von Bärle, die sich schon Tage vorher angehübscht hat,
ist das alles auch kein Wunder! -

As to the full moon, make it from my part full moon minus some %, as the post was ready in time but not the other one before...and I don't want to wait for the next full moon to come, I already missed one...
