Wer sich nun fragt, was das oben heißt...Dank Chiunger wissen wir auf jeden Fall, dass das gute Nachrichten aus China sind, offensichtlich wurden 2 der 3 vermissten Pandas aus dem Wolong Reservat gefunden, nun fehlt nur noch eins...wir hoffen, dass das Kleine noch gefunden werden kann.... Hier ein Foto aus dem Artikel der Chinanews, von dem wir vermuten, dass es sich um das zuletzt gefundene Pandagirl handelt, genau wissen wir es nicht, vielleicht ist es ja auch das, was noch gesucht wird...


Thanks to Chiunger from Taiwan we know that above signs in the title bar bear good news from Wolong in China, 2 of the 3 missing pandas were found, just one is still missing now and we hope it can be found too in good health.

Here a photo, unfortuantely we do not know if this is the little one missing or the last one found, maybe with a little translation help we'll find out....

Nach Erdbeben - Rettung von Pandas in Wolong!

Das Erdbeben in China hatte nicht nur Folgen für Millionen von Menschen, sondern auch für die dort beheimateten Tiere. Ein Artikel im Telegraph zeigte gestern Fotos von der Rettungsaktion der Pandas, die im Wolong Naturreservat leben, welches nur 20 Meilen vom Epizentrum in Sezuan entfernt liegt. Hunderte von Pandas mussten nach dem Beben gerettet werden. 5 Mitarbeiter des Reservats kamen ums Leben, fast alle der 32 Pandahäuser wurden zerstört. In China leben insgesamt nur noch 1600 Pandas im bergigen Westen des Landes sowie 180 in Gefangenschaft, In der Wolong Station leben insgesamt 86 Pandas.3 Pandas des Reservats konnten offenbar bislang nicht gefunden werden. Ein Teil der Bären hatte sich angstvoll auf verbleibende Bäume gerettet, wo sie von Helfern gefunden wurden, sich verzweifelt an Astwerk festhaltend. Die ersten Hilfsgüter wie Nahrung und Medikamente sind eingetroffen. Wieweit das Erdbeben den Lebensraum der Pandas noch weiter beschnitten hat, wird noch festzustellen sein. Die Aufzucht in Stationen, zumeist per künstlicher Befruchtung, ist keine einfache Sache. Letztes Jahr soll es einen kleinen Babyboom gegeben haben.

The earthquake in China had not only devastating or fatal consequences for millions of people but also for animals. An article in the Telegraph showed some photos from the rescue operation for the pandas in the Wolong nature reserve which is only situated 20 miles from the epicentre and which was hit severely. Helpers found the bears shaking with fear and desperately clinging to trees for support.The quake reportedly killed five staff members and destroyed or severely damaged all 32 of the reserve's panda houses. And despite the massive operation some of the 1,600 pandas living in the wild in the Sichuan district remain missing, three of them of the world famous Wolong reserve, a breeding and research station where in total 86 pandas live. A Chinese official said that the first batch of bamboo, apples, and veterinary medicine for the pandas has arrived at the reserve as well as food and the tents urgently needed by the staff.

It is estimated that there are only 1600 pandas left in the wild in China and some 180 living in captivity in breeding stations. Breeding of pandas is a very time consuming and difficult procedure, mostly done by artificial insemination. Last year a sort of a baby boom had been reported... How much the earthquake has dammaged the habitat of the pandas in the wild rests to be seen.
