Eine besondere Beziehung...

Dass Eisbären einen besondere Beziehung zu Mülltonnen haben, ist hinlänglich bekannt. Hier zur Abwechslung einmal die umgekehrte Variante, 6401 Mülltonnen (eigentlich muss das n jetzt hier weg, aber das sieht auch komisch aus, also lass ich's) mit einer besonderen Beziehung zu Eisbären...-

That polar bears have a special relationship to rubbish bins is in the meantime sort of common knowledge. Here for a change now it's about the other way round, rubbish bins, in fact 6401 to be precise, with a special relationship to polar bears...Just have a look!

Übrigens ging es hier auch um einen Weltrekord, für dieses weltweit größte Mosaikbild, das am 18.September 2010 in Berlin entstand, waren neben den 6401 bunten Mülltonnen auch noch 150 Helfer im Einsatz, gut gemacht!-

It was also about a world record - 150 helpers created with these bins in Berlin the world's largest mosaic image... 

And yes, this is one of so many posts which was supposed to be posted already ages ago...:)

Earth Hour 2012...This evening - Just switch off your lights

Es ist wieder soweit, heute abend zwischen 20.30 Uhr und 21.30 Uhr sollten überall auf der Welt die Lichter ausgehen. Auch viele Zoos machen mit, wie hier der Toronto Zoo in Kanada oder der Alaska Zoo, also nicht vergessen und einfach mitmachen....-

No big explanations needed here, just don't forget to switch off the lights as every lst Saturday in March since 2007.

Some zoos participate too with candle events like the Alaska Zoo or Toronto where all essential lights will be switched off in regard for the polar bears threatened so obviously by our carbon emissions...

That was in 2010...

A picture of 1600 pandas exposed in Boulogne/Billancourt (France) on Saturday, 27th March 2010 on the occasion of Earth Hour to raise awareness about the consequences of our carbon prints on nature's wild life. The 1600 pandas represented the number estimated in 2004 of the remaining population in the wild in China...

OK, Knut is dead, but on days like this I can't help than thinking that he was not such a bad ambassador in the fight against CO2 emmissions...

There is NO zoo NOT mentioning anymore the deadly connection between climate change, our consumption and way to handle resources, and the future of polar bears in the wild.

All polar bears have become ambassadors -

And it's our turn to make a difference..., not just today.

So just join in!

"Kleiner Bär schließt die Augen und wünscht sich und wünscht sich, ein Astronaut zu werden z.B., oder Pirat auf einem Schiff, König in einem magischen Schloss...Doch wenn er seine Augen öffnet, sind seine Wünsche nicht wahr geworden. Er ist immer noch der kleine Bär, der in der arktischen Tundra lebt.

"Little Bear closes his eyes and wishes and wishes and wishes to become an astronaut in outer space … a pirate on a ship… a king in a magical castle! But when he opens his eyes, his wishes haven’t come true. He is still Little Bear living in the Arctic tundra.

Mutter Bär hilft ihm zu sehen, dass viele seiner Wünsche doch wahr werden, Schwimmen mit verspielten Belugas oder das Ansehen und Erleben der unglaublichen Nordlichter.

Mother Bear helps him see that many of his wishes do come true, from swimming with playful belugas to watching the dazzling northern lights.

Und zu seiner allergrößten Überraschung und Freude entdeckt Kleiner Bär, dass er selbst Mutter bärs größter Wunsch war, der wahr geworden ist...

And much to his surprise and delight, Little Bear discovers that he was Mother Bear’s wish come true..."
