Laika & Molly

Just a few pics of Sunday morning when I brought Molly for the first time after the accident to Laika. After a short and warm greeting period, Molly started sniffing and felt obviously that her sister was not in for a long chasing excursion...I had been so scared that Molly would overrun Laika completely by her usual enthusiasm but in fact all dogs close to Laika left her in peace, obviously feeling that she has to have some rest...Amazing, these dogs!

For Laika it has been a different story, she would have liked to follow Molly ....

More about Laika's development when I have a bit more time...

Good morning Birgit
Good morning Miss Molly
Good morning Laika

All the three of you look great in the photos. It's amazing Laika looks quite healthy. Hopefully every day will be a little easier for her and very early she will be able to run around with dear Molly!

I like your white hair and the hairdo. Contrary to others ;-) you could do with a bar of choclate more! but the important thing is that you yourself feel fit and healthy.

Knussis and Knugs to all of you three from Dumba

Certainly I keep crossing my fingers for dear Laika - she is a cutie right as Miss Molly is!

Good morning, Dumba!

Thanks for your stimulating words...I don't comment on the white hairdo and do the chocolate right now...)), more important the news about Laika...

Yes , you are right, Laika looks quite healthy on these pics, it is just that you can't see how difficult still coordination is, she still staggers and falls from time to time but it gets better and she gets faster every day. This morning she wanted even to go after another dog and Carleen had to run quite fast to get her...As long as walls are close to her, Laika uses them as supports, walking along them.

Her paw which looked so troublesome during the first days is improving too, you can see that already on these pics from Sunday.

Since yesterday she has started barking again, whenever she sees a dog not belonging to her territory she starts doing it ( while she is outside ; most of the time she stays still inside.)

So I am getting more and more optimistic, one thing is for sure, Laika has never given up on herself, being with her is simply rewarding, I feel my spirits going up whenever I have visited her.

Dumba, thanks a lot for your good wishes and all the amazing work you have done to find us more accident related links on the net.

To you and everybody a wonderful day today

Birgit

I have just received a little parcel of friends from Germany who have met Molly and the whole family in January. They sent some special teeth treats for Molly , things you can't get here, even dog chocolate...!!! She will be thrilled!!!! I suppose some of this stuff is still too early for Laika but I will keep something for her too...

Danke Marion & Frank!!!!!Es ist alles angekommen...

Stay optimistic, dear Birgit. It's good to hear/read that Laika has never given up on herself. Hope, it stays like this as it's probably the same as with human beings: an optimistic sight on things makes recovery easier!

BTW, were the statement and hints of the vet helpful?

This was, what I wrote prior to seeing that you had written something in the meantime:

Good morning Birgit, I was just going to ask whether there was already some news from Laika and then saw the pics. I think too that her paw will need some more time, but because she is having now the cortisone, I am quite confident that it will heal completely. And the fact that she always was able to recognize her people and now to bark again in case of "need" are very good signs as well. Her coordination will require the most time.
Please keep us posted and bring my regards to Miss Molly, Laika and Carleen.

Liebe Birgit,

Viktor

I'm so glad to hear that she is making progress. And it is so great to see the pictures. Recovery will take a long time, but every day it seems as if she makes some improvement. That is wonderful.

Hallo liebe Birgit,

It is so wonderful to see all your lovely comments about Laika's progress. Carleen and I want to thank you again for it. Unfortunately I am too busy to write more, maybe later more.
