Sweet Rosh Hashanah for Bears

Today at sundown starts Rosh Hashana, the celebration of the Jewish New Year, a time to review moral and religious behaviour of the last year. Bears at the Ramat Gan Safari Park outside of Tel Aviv, Israel, were given apples, pomegranates, honey and other sweet fruits on Thursday. Jews traditionally eat apples and honey during this holiday season in hopes that the new year will be sweet and fruitful. A further custom is the eating of pomegranates, the many seeds are seen as a symbol of hope to get as many rights one day...
In this sense, enjoy the pics of the bears...))

One of the customs during the upcoming holiday of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, that starts Sunday, is to eat apples dipped in honey, symbolizing the hope that the next year will be sweet.

Liebe Birgit,
