Schon vor einem Monat....Boris, Mercedes Schwager, ist tot....

Für die einen Eisbär mit Gruselfaktor...-
For some the polar bear with rather spine-chilling factor, sort of creepy... Für die anderen lieb und mit markantem Gesicht: Eisbär Boris aus dem Zoo in Wuppertal...-

For others he was more the lovely one with a prominent and striking face: Polar bear Boris from Wuppertal... Manche hielten ihn...-
Some considered him as......einfach nur...-
...a bear who was just...
...für unglaublich faul...-
...extraordinarily lazy...
Vor einem Monat starb Boris, der männliche Eisbär des Zoos Wuppertal. Der am 1.1.1978, und damit zum Club der über 30jährigen gehörenden, in Whipsnade England geborene Eisbär, kam am 21. Dezember 1979 zum Rurzoo Gelsenkirchen und am 27. Juni 1980 in den Zoologischen Garten der Stadt Wuppertal.-

One month ago Boris died, the only male polar bear of zoo in Wuppertal. Born on New Years day of 1978, hence one of the few male bears achieving 30 years and more, came originally from Whipsnade in England via Gelsenkirchen. Boris Eltern waren Mosha und Amos. Boris hatte noch einen älteren Bruder, den 1976 geborenen Barney, uns allen kein Unbekannter, war er doch der langjährige Gefährte von Mercedes in Edinburgh, Barney starb am 19. Januar 1996 tragischerweise, nachdem er ein Plastikspielzeug verschluckte, das er in seinem Graben gefunden hatte.-

Boris' parents were Mosha and Amos. He also had an older brother, Barney, born in 1976, to all of us no stranger, as he was the long time companion of Mercedes until he died so tragically on January 19 in 1996 when he suffocated after swallowing a plastic cricket toy which he had found in his moat. Hier ein Foto aus Whipsnade von dem ich glaube, es könnte Mosha mit Boris sein, denn zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme gab es an sich keine andere Eisbärin mit Jungtier in Whipsnade..-

Here a photo of Whipsnade showing a female with her cub, given the fact (at least to my knowledge) that there hadn't been any other females with young except of Mosha, I think it might show her together with a little Boris...

Boris selbst war übrigens nicht immer faul und selbst bis zum Schluss, wohl ganz und gar nicht "lendenlahm", mit seiner ersten Frau Nina, einer 1978 geborenen Russin, gab es 3 mal Nachwuchs. der Kleine hier mit Mama Nina ist Boris Sohn Troll,... -

Boris was not always lazy, when it came to his ladies, he was quite successful, with his first wife Nina, a lady originally from Russia, he had 3 kids. Here Nina with their son Troll (born 15.11. 86) , ...
...der im Tierpark Friedrichsfelde in Berlin lebt, und dem wie seinem Vater Boris nicht nur eine große Faulheit nachgesagt wird, sondern auch eine Scheu vor Wasser, es sei denn, es geht um Melonen-

Here the other two beauties ...Candy (born 02.11.92) , and since 1994 in Japan... & Svenja (born 15.10.1995) since 1997 in Seaworld Orlando/Florida...

Hier im tête-à-tête mit der schönen Jerka, seiner letzten knapp 20 jährigen Frau aus Nürnberg, die nun erstmal alleine ist und die mit so vielen Eisbärinnen das Schicksal früher Witwenschaft teilt. Hoffentlich nicht für lange, sie ist einfach zu schön um alleine zu bleiben...In Bezug auf Boris gab es zwar keinen Nachwuchs, aber ganz untätig war Boris wohl nicht...-

Here with Jerka, a beauty close to 20 now (born Nov 23, 1989) and from Nuremberg, now alone, sharing with so many ladies the destiny of an early widowhood....Hopefully not for too long as she seems to be a real lady with her delicate features ...No offspring with Boris but he was said to be not only sleeping...

Boris soll sehr friedlich eingeschlafen sein, nur an welchem Datum genau, darüber gibt es unterschiedliche Auskünfte, die zwischen dem 9.9. und vor dem 24. September liegen...-

Boris died peacefully in his sleep, about the day there is not only one information, so I take it that it was somewhen before the 24th September as before noone commented on his death...

Farewell Boris and thank you so much for having entertained so many people, your face will certainly never be forgotten...RIP!
